Ole Gunnar Solskjaer speaks after League Cup semi-final draw

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed his excitement after the Red Devils were drawn against Manchester City for the double-legged tie in the League Cup semi-final. The Manchester derby has already been held once at the Etihad Stadium this season and the result went in the favour of the Red Devils, who picked up a 2-1 triumph.

Speaking in a press conference, Solskjaer said that the Citizens are the best team in England as per him and his side need to perform much better than before to come out victorious over the two legs, he told: “Of course, we do really respect them and, as I said after the derby last time, in my opinion they are the best team in England.

They can out-football you so we need to get our game heads on and be ready for them again. But we've shown them that we can cause them problems so I think they will be two fantastic games. We’ve looked at that game [at Eastlands] and we were very pleased with the result. But there are things we need to do so much better.”

Pep Guardiola’s side were the dominant team at the start of the previous derby but they were outclassed by the Red Devils, who scored twice on the counter-attack. They could have quite easily scored more goals on the day but goalkeeper Ederson and the woodwork came to the rescue of the Premier League holders.
After such an experience, Guardiola would no doubt favour a more cautious approach and it remains to be seen whether United are able to replicate the same level of performance. The Red Devils are scheduled to face Watford, Newcastle United, and Burnley in the league before the turn of the year. In January, they have a tough schedule with away trips to Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City, and Liverpool in different competitions.
